Hellas Ltd trading as 'Athena Foods' began its life in 1998 and was founded by Alex Doutis, a native of Crete. It is as a wholesale operation supplying the East Anglia region with a variety of selected greek olives including stuffed olives, marinated olives and extra virgin olive oil that the business was based.

Clientele revolves around quality farm shops, delicatessens and prestigious hotels and restaurants.

The business was acquired in early 2008 by Steve and Mo Smith who had returned home to the UK after a long spell abroad. It was business as usual for Athena Foods but by early 2009 a decision was taken to offer our gorgeous olives to a wider client base by launching an internet retail operation - hence here we are at 'Greek Olives.co.uk'

We have begun by offering a core sample of our range together with our lovely 'Lyrakis Family' cold pressed extra virgin olive oil direct from Crete. We are confident the olives will speak for themselves, so we are continuing to use our plain 'farmshop' style tubs to package our marinades in the 200g and 400g size, 1.5kg packs are also available. With the exception of our Salad/Party Mix all our olives are presented with a generous quantity of Greek salad oil.

The Salad/Party Mix plain olives are presented in brine and this may be disposed of if preferred and replaced with water upon receipt. This will greatly diminish the salt content of the olives over 24 hours. The unopened tubs do not need refrigeration and will keep (and improve) for at least 6 months. When opened we recommend refrigeration and consumption within 10 days.
